ensuring federal support, at every opportunity, for higher education in Waterloo Region and Canada, the cornerstone of prosperity in a globalized economy;
securing government support for the Waterloo Region Community Safety and Crime Prevention Council;
persuading the Commons to vote, by a 142-115 majority, to hold a Parliamentary minute of silence and lower the flag on the Peace Tower when Canadian soldiers die in combat;
working across party lines to get legislation passed that restores citizenship rights to hundreds of thousands of Canadians - war brides and their children, tens of thousands of Mennonites, and others denied citizenship because of discriminatory flaws in legislation.
